Hello Beautiful: Spellbinders die's and Wow Embossing powders!

Hey all! What a gorgeous day! I'm sitting outside with my laptop watching the babe play... so happy that nicer weather is coming!Just stopping by to share a new project with you today!
This is a layout that I created for the WOW Embossing Powder blog. Check out here for the blog post!
Hello Beautiful

In creating this project, I used some fun embossing techniques!
1. First, I tore several of the patterned papers. Once torn, I then dipped then into ClearSnap Watermark ink, then into WOW COPPER Regular embossing powder and heat set. On the musical paper, I first dipped it into the WOW Ebony powder, heat set, then into the copper. Love the layered look it gave!
2. I created some Spellbinders Spiral Blossoms Three flowers for this page. I did the same with these… dipped them into the Watermark ink and then into the copper powder and heat set. Love that I can add any color to my flowers using this technique! Try it with premade flowers as well!

3. I also cut and embossed Spellbinders Splendid Circles and added some Copper powder to that as well!
4. Check out that large flourish! It was made by Magistical Memories. I dabbed it with the watermark ink and sprinkled it with the Black Glitter embossing powder and heat set it. Then, I added areas of the copper to give it more of a metallic look.

When I was away in AZ last week for the Spellbinders retreat, we played with some super fun techniques. Let me share them with you… they are things you will HAVE to try!!
1. We played with some Art Engraving paper… OMW! I’m in LOVE ! This fabulous paper by Royal and Langnickel is a must have! I used it on my beautiful bird and birdcage, which is part of the Bird Sanctuary set. After cutting and embossing, we sanded it using a sanding block. This brought out the copper color inside! It was such a WOW moment! So I had to use these pieces on this page!
2. Then, there is the gorgeous Elegant Post that I used. To create this, we cut the die from a glossy black paper. This paper has a white core. Once embossed, we sanded it and then inked it. Again… WOW moment! It looks like wood! LOVE!! Thanks to Judy Hayes for sharing this technique! So THAT’S how she makes things look like that! She is an amazing artist (Not to mention, one of the sweetest people EVAH!!)… and if you haven’t checked out her work… do it now! You won’t be sorry!
So I hope that today’s post has been informative and inspiring! Try something new today… you never know… you just may find a new technique that you can’t create without!
Thanks for stopping by!
Until Next Time…
Happy Scrapping…

Wait a minute… know what? It’s not just scrapping anymore, is it!? I do a lot more than that!! So, I’m going to come up with a new sign off phrase… let’s try something different…
Happy Creating!

Spellbinders Design Team Retreat

Hey all!! I'm back!! :) What an amazing trip I had to the Spellbinders Design Team retreat in Phoenix AZ
I feel SOOO unbelievably blessed... Blessed to be working for this unbelievable company once again... blessed to have had the chance to meet and get to know these amazingly talented women, blessed to have had the opportunity to go on this trip... blessed in more ways than I can say! THANK YOU Spellbinders... Thank you Stacey and Jeff Caron! Thank you Kim Hupke. Thank you Cathy Chlebana! You all are amazing people, I and I appreciate you all so much! There are so many more people that made this such an amazing time... but these peeps are the glue that keeps it all together! ((HUGS))

During the retreat, we had the opportunity to take 4 classes from some AMAZING designers and artists! We took a class in Artistic Wire with Juliana Hudgins. (Love this girl!) We had SO much fun and learned some amazing things!! We also took a class with Donna Salazar... love her style.

We played with Jen Cushman using Ice Resin... LOVE IT! SO many possibilities! Then we also tried out hands at glass etching withe EtchAll with Barbee! She was the cutest thing! It was much easier than I thought and has endless ideas going thru my head!
No matter where we went, or what we did, we always had a great time and tons of laughs! Here we are (above) at a BBQ spot for supper... the owner usually is not open in the evenings, but the gals sweet-talked him into opening up for us! LOL! Great food!
It was so nice to meet many new friends, and and get together with friends made last year. This is Lesley Langdon and I... Love this girl! Amazingly talented... a sweet spirit... and to beat all... she's CANADIAN! :) She was my partner in crime down there... good times! :) Every once in a while you meet someone who just feels like a kindred spirit... nuff said... :)
Some more of the gals... Christine Emberson, Theresa Horner, Judy Hayes, and Iwona Palamountain. We had some great laughs when we went out for a night in Old Scotsdale.
It was amazing... there are 5 countries represented on the team this year... US, Canada, UK, Australia and the Netherlands! So exciting!
I could post photo's all night but I won't! :) Some of these photo's were taken by other team members... I was too busy to take pics! Often too busy chatting, laughing or half asleep due to lack of sleep... thanks to my fabulous and adorable roomie Heidi Van Laar... we chatted half of the nights!! :) Good times! Oh, and my batteries died too, that's a good excuse! :)
Anyway... thanks for sticking around thru this post! I am so excited for what this year is going to bring! AMAZING things to come!!
Thanks for stopping by!
Untin Next time...
Happy Scrapping! :)

Shrinki-Dink!

Hey there! in 21 hrs I will be aboard a plane heading to Arizona... I just can't believe it! I feel SO incredibly blessed!!! And in panic mode! I have SOOOO much yet to do!! LOL! But that's me... procrastinate! :)
So, I guess that's why I'm sitting here at my computer, right? Wasting time! LOL! But while I'm here, I have a LO to show you... one I did for Spellbinders booth at Summer CHA. Check it out...
I had SO much fun with this page! The photo was taken at my DD's 9th birthday party. I got the photo idea from Pinterest... with the paper background... I just love this pic of her! LOL!
For the design, I wanted to use the Jewel Stones die's... so I cut them out using Shrink plastic, inked them thru the template and then shrunk them down using my heat gun! Then I inked a bit more to get the look I wanted, and wrapped them with wire to look like jewlery! String them onto a chain and it was a real unique acent for this page! Funky... just like the photo! LOL!
I also used several Edgeabilities on this page... Creates fantastic edges and borders, don't ya think?

Home is where the Heart Is

I’m super excited to share a fun new digital/paper crafting kit with you today!

One of my online scrappy friends, Shanna Vineyard, has combined her love of hand-drawing and painting mixed with her fondness of bright, happy colors to bring us a kit that is different than anything you’ve ever seen! In celebration of her relocating back home to Arizona next week, she was inspired to create this kit, “Home Is Where the Heart Is” that includes over 50 different hand-drawn and painted images. They can be used in your digital projects or can be easily resized and printed to cut out and use with your traditional scrapbooking and card making creations. The possibilities are endless and you will have them to use over and over again as much as you like for as many projects as you wish! So FUN!!!

Here’s what I made using her kit…..

I have to admit, this is my very first hybrid project!! I had dabbled in a very small bit of digi scrapping, but had never done any hybrid! So you can imagine my excitement when Shanna asked me to be a part of this release!!
Since I am completely new to this, I kept it simple... I opened some of the images into a WORD document, sized them as I wanted and printed them onto white cardstock! Then I cut them out and started playing!!

I diecut the round THANK YOU sentiment using the Spellbinders Grand Circles. Then, using Spellbinders Standard Circles LG I diecut a piece of MME woodgrain paper in teal. The background for the entire card is a piece of MME paper with red and white polkadots that matched Shanna's design perfectly! I diecut that paper using the Grand Dahlias! Handcut hearts and border were the focalpoint! i added some eyelettes and twine tied with a button, and a few tiny brads in between the THANK YOU's and this card was good to go!! SO much easier than I thought!! If I'd had time I'd have had a bunch more to show you... but like always... time was up! LOL! So, I'll try and get some more things created using this AMAZING kit... so remember to stop by again! :)

Visit Shanna’s blog to purchase this kit and see LOTS of other awesome samples that were created specifically to share with you today! In celebration of this fun, new release she is also doing a huge giveaway valued at over $275.00 with lots of fabulous new scrappy goodies and several ways you can win! So head on over and check it out!

Thanks for stopping by!! I'd love for you to follow my blog, since I'm sure there are many people visiting today who are new to me! Say HI and follow along, and I'll try and drop by your blog as well!!

Thanks Shanna for this awesome new experience and for including me! You ROCK girl!! :)

Until Next Time...

HAPPY SCRAPPING!!

Spellbinders Design Team... Year 2!!

I know... the announcement was made almost a week ago! Does it seem like I'm not excited?...
NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am BURSTING with excitement yet again to share that I have been asked to continue on with Spellbinders and be a part of their 2012 design team!! The competition was extremely difficult! With everything taking place over Christmas, everything with Dad's illness PLUS all of the CHA work... It was a real challenge! However, I adored each and every project I submitted! I guess they did too...! :) WHOOT!!
Unfortunately I am not able to share any of my projects for the competition with you. They are being held for possible publication! Exciting!!
I would like however, to share with you a layout that I did for Spellbinders for CHA. This is a page about my 6 yr old Sammy. It's bright! It has no flowers on it! So it's a little different for me, but having 4 boys and only 1 girl, I have to break out of my elegant and romantic mode once in a while to scrap something fun and funky!

Thank God for answered prayer

I want to begin by saying thank you to all of you who have emailed me, commented, or taken the time to touch base and let me know you are thinking of and/or praying for my Dad. In the last post about Dad, things were not looking good. We were told there was nothing that could be done. As you can imagine, it was devastating.
I am THRILLED to share, that diagnosis has changed. Dad has been diagnosed with Limbic Encephalitis caused by an Autoimmune Disease. He was given MANY tests, and we are still waiting for blood work to come back from the Mayo Clinic in Boston. But they have not found any problems anywhere in his body, except for his brain. AMEN to that! They were afraid that it may have been caused by cancer or a tumor somewhere in his body. But it is not... there is absolutely NO reason!! THAT is a huge answer to prayer!!!
So, in Jan they started Dad on a cortisone treatment, which lasted 7 days and made a big difference. This treatment reduced the inflammation in his brain. Then, last week they repeated another set of this same treatment, as well as give him a new one. This one is called IVIG. It is basically filling filling him with antibodies harvested from aprox 20,000 blood donors. They hope with this is that it will help to correct the path of the antibodies attacking his brain. Amazing! When we were told there was nothing they could do...
Dad just finished this treatment and is doing amazing! The doctors have ordered another round of this at the end of Feb. For now he is being transferred to the Rehab unit in the hospital so that they can focus on helping him to remember things. Hopefully after the next set of treatments he will be able to come home...
That's such an amazing thought... we never thought it would happen. God has answered so many prayers regarding Dad... so many little things... I couldn't begin to list them all. I'm just so grateful to serve a God who cares...
Even if things had not turned out as they have... God is still faithful... he has a plan. I'm just so thankful that His plan is to keep Dad around a while longer. I am so blessed...
Thank you for your prayers... keep them coming!!
xoxo

Watch this introductory video!

See how to use the new Spellbinders M-Bossabilities in this video!

For my first project, I created an altered trinket box. The box itself is a plain wooden box easily found at any craft store. It was very simple to create this… here’s what I did.
Paint the box with a generous coat of crackle paint. Feel free to paint inside and the bottom if desired. I left the center of the top unpainted, as it will be covered by paper. While it dries, continue on with the next steps.

Trim a patterned paper just slightly smaller than the size of the box top. Sand edges of paper. Set aside.
Using E8-013 Classic Decorative Inserts Five and E8-003 Classic Triple Scallop Edge, create a 12” long strip. Tape the 2 die templates together, then tape to the strip of paper using a low tack tape. Cut and emboss using Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Machine. Remove die templates and reposition to finish cutting the 12” strip. I like to overlap the last portion of the cut design with the die templates to ensure everything remains in the proper position.
Repeat, so you have 2 12” strips to work with.
Create a decorative strip by adhering the edges of the strips just cut under the edges of a strip of striped pattern paper. Ink all edges if desired before adhering.
Adhere patterned paper to box top. Adhere decorative strip using Scor Pal’s Scor Tape for a strong hold. Trim ends once they have met the bottom of the box lid. Sand for smoothness.
Next, add a black flourish from Want2Scrap. Ends will be longer than the box, so just continue to wrap them around the box.

Now we get into some die cutting fun!!

Using cream colored cardstock, cut out S4-353 Labels Twenty Four die template #4 (with #1 being the smallest). No need to emboss, as we are now going to set this piece in our ES-001 Simplicity M-Bossabilities folder using side B. Emboss using the A-Base Plate and the raspberry D-Adaptor Plate, with the M-Bossabilities folder in between. Once embossed, lightly run a light colored ink across the embossed image. This helps to give a faux-letterpress look very easy! Set aside.
Using green paper, cut circle using S4-114 Standard Circles LG #5 (#1 is the smallest). Emboss using the same technique discussed above… using plates A and D with the M-Bossabilities folder between. Sand lightly, then ink. Add circle of black Nestabling from Want2Scrap. Set aside.
Next, I chose a different paper to add a bit if a delicate touch. Donna Salazar’s Antiquities linefrom GCD Studios worked perfectly! Place plain dress form from S5-068 Decorative Dress Forms over journaling block containing the floral pattern on the bottom left. Use low tack tape to hold in place. Trim with scissors. Cut and emboss. Lightly outline the form using black ink from Clear Snap. Add 3 pearls from Want 2 Scrap. I chose baby bling… in LeCreme. To finish off the dress form, I tied the waist with a small piece of green tulle.

Now we get to put it all together!!
Using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares, adhere the die cut pieces to the center of the decorated trinket box. Labels Twenty Four on the bottom, circle next, with the dress form on top.
To finish off, add a thin strip of stripped pattern around the perimeter of the box. I inked the edges first, and adhered it using Scor Tape.

Now you are finished!!

Update

Hello All!
I'm sorry it's been so long since I've updated. Life has thrown me a bit of a curve ball. It's really thrown me off in every aspect of my life.
Dec 21st I received the dreadful news that my Dad is terminally ill and is not expected to make it more than 6 months to a year.
Crash... my world just fell down around me...
I don't know what to say... i don't know what to feel... I don't know what to do.
So I'm just taking one day at a time... and doing what I have to do. I'm ok... it's just really hard on me. I'm leaning on my Savior for strength, and the prayers that I know are being prayed are holding me up and helping me to deal with each day.

I've been doing lots of creating... and have lots to share... I'm just not able to take the time to do that yet... so much yet to do!
So... bare with me! I hope to be a better blogger this year, and inspire you lots. I guess my "New Start with a New Year" hasn't really started for me yet... hopefully it's coming soon.
So, until then...
~TINA~
