Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hello all!!! First off... no one in this house is sick at the moment! Can we get a WHOOP WHOOP!!?? It's been a long winter... but I think I see light at the end of the tunnel!!

My Baby Brother

For my project today, I chose to create some flowers for you made out of ribbon! You are seeing SOO many beautiful paper flowers on this hop that I thought I would change it up just a little bit for you! These flowers can be created out of any kind of ribbon you have around. You can also use tulle, fabric, canvas or anything you choose!

I LOVE YOU BERRY MUCH

Supplies: Best Creation Patterned paper, Assorted ribbon, Prima flowers/vine and pebble, Magistical Memories chipboard fence, Martha Stewart butterfly and border punch, Fiskars lace circle punch, Helmar premium craft glue, quick fix adhesive runner and liquid scrap dots.
Here is the project I created for you. It is using one of the older Best Creation lines. This line is filled with strawberries, flowers, swirls, polkadots, birdies and butterflies! Swoon! This creation was made just for me... I'm sure of it! :)
In creating this page, I did a lot of fussy cutting as you can tell. It is a little bit time consuming but so worth the effort! I layered some of the flowers using Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots to give them a little bit of dimension.
The ribbon flowers are seen on the bottom left corner of the photos. See how well they blend into the overall design of the page?

My Little Word

I realize that it is no longer the beginning of the new year... but since we are still in the first month, I think it's still a great time to share with you my word choice for the year.

**CONTENT**

–adjective

satisfied with what one is or has; not wanting more or anything else.


In 2011 I aim to be more content... to be satisfied with what I have... to be thankful for what I have and focus on those things rather than on what i do not or can not have.

So often I get caught up in the negative... what I do not have, what I can not do rather than realize what I DO have... what I CAN do. In this coming year, I want to change that. I want to be overwhelmed by what I have! I want to realize how greatly God has blessed me and how much love he has surrounded me with. I am blessed with an amazing Husband, 5 healthy, beautiful and incredible children, a fabulous home, a "hobby" that I am passionate about and am able to pursue, I am healthy, I have a God who loves me... I am blessed beyond measure. I am content...

I realize that the journey to contentment is just that... a journey. It will not be achieved in one day or even one year. But being aware is the first step...In order to document this journey, I created a little journal to record my thoughts and experiences thru this coming year.

This little album is from Jenni Bowlin. It is adorable! It is 4x4 in size and the inside pages are all lined papers! Exactly what I want for a journal! So, I decorated the outside and I was good to go! For this project I used Helmar's Acid Free Glue to adhere the paper to the chipboard album and to each other . I also used 450 quickdry to adhere the ribbon. I used the Helmar Fray Stoppa to help the ribbon from fraying. I wanted this journal to have a closure as well, so i used a brad and the ribbon for that. I added some Fray Stoppa to the hole in the ribbon as well to keep it from stretching any further.
I used a chipboard heart from Magistical Memories as a little dangle element on the ring of the album along with the tulle.Supplies: (Jenni Bowlin) Journal album and pin, (Pink Paislee) Papers, (Cosmo Cricket) Alpha's, (Making Memories) Alpha's, Journaling paper, (Recollections) Brad, (Magistical Memories) Chipboard heart, (Ranger) Ink, (Craft supply) Tulle, (Helmar) Acid Free Glue, 450 Quickdry, Fray Stoppa

Helmar Holiday Blog Hop!

Hello and WELCOME to the Helmar Holiday Blog Hop! I am so thrilled that you are here!! If you just happened upon this post and knew nothing about the hop, well boy are you in luck!! Go to the beginning and start at the Helmar Design Team Blog! There are so many gorgeous blogs for you to visit! So many beautiful projects for you to admire!

If you've been following along from the beginning, you have arrived here from the talented Lolly Chessie's blog! Boy has that gal got talent, eh? And after you leave my blog, you will be traveling on to the blog of Aussie designer Leeann Pearce and that is SURE to be a treat!
But, now that you are here... at my blog, sit back, put your feet up, grab you favorite drink and have a peeksie at what I have created for you!
I had the thrill of using Helmar's Acrylic Sealer for the first time! WOW! I ADORE this stuff! Since then, I have already created another project with it! It can be seen here on the Helmar blog! Helmar Acrylic Sealer seals & protects your arts & craft projects with a clear gloss finish.Use on paper, wood, plastic, tin, glass, terra cotta, decoupage, paper tole and many more! I also used my favorite Helmar product... the Liquid Scrap Dots!! Anyone who has used these knows why they have been dubbed HEAVEN IN A TUBE!!

In creating my project for you for today, I decorated an old cookie tin. I absolutely love the finish that the Acrylic Sealer gave to it! Check it out!

I began by trimming my papers to the proper size. I then coated around the tin with a generous coat of Acrylic Sealer. I then added the strips of paper around the edges, pressing firmly and thoroughly to be sure there were no bubbles. I then used a paint brush to apply another coat of sealer over the paper. This gives it a great shiny finish and helps to seal and protect the tin.
Next I decorated my cover! This is always the fun part!! I began by adding a thin strip around the outside as seen in the above photo. I did this using the same steps as mentioned above. Then I started on the top. I cut a circle from the red paper slightly smaller than the tin cover. Using Helmar's 450 Quickdry, I adhered the lace trim to the underside of the circle. Then I coated the top of the tin with Acrylic Sealer, added the paper trimmed with lace, and gave it another thick coat of sealer. I even used sealer on the edge of the lace to help it stay in place.
Finally I decorated it! That's where the Liquid Scrap Dots came in!I created the beautiful spiral flowers and held them together using the scrap dots! I love that the glue seeps up thru the layers of the flower holding each part exactly in place! Perfectly! Then I adhered them to the tin also using the liquid scrap dots!
Love how it turned out! Not sure if I can give this away or not! :) But it was so easy, I think I could probably make a few for gifts... just maybe! :) They would be beautiful filled with cookies, fudge, candy... SO many ideas!!

Helmar Halloween Howler Hop!!

Today I have a layout to share with you. I am not much of a Halloween kinda gal, though looking at all of the AMAZING projects my Helmar Hotties created sure is inspiring! Instead, I chose to share a fall themed project with you.
This past weekend we celebrated THANKSGIVING here in Canada! I have SO much to be grateful for, that I could not pass up the opportunity to create a project with this in mind!

THANKFUL

Here are a few detail shots to give you a feel for the dimension on this page! There are 7 layers of paper on here! SO much fun!!!
In creating this page, I used 2 Helmar products... Premium Craft Glue and Helmar Gemstone glue!
Everything on this page was adhered using the Premium Craft Glue! The papers, the chipboard, the lace, the ribbon, buttons, my journaling strips... EVERYTHING!!! This glue does it ALL! It dries clear and has a FANTASTIC hold! Seriously... I'll never use any other adhesive for the bulk of my page! I'm so THANKFUL for Helmar's Premium Craft Glue!! :)
Now, I also used some Gemstone glue... can you guess where I used it? Yes, you got it! On my little apple tree!!! Here's a quick tutorial using Gemstone glue to make your own apple tree!!


You will need:
Helmar Gemstone Glue
Maya Road chipboard tree (or other tree)
Red Glitter
Large toothpick or wooden skewer
Glimmer mist or paint
1. Paint tree green trunk/branches brown.
2.Using toothpick, dip small dabs of gemstone glue randomly over green part of the tree. These do not have to be all the same size.
3. Sprinkle with LOTS of red glitter over a piece of scrap paper. Let sit for just a second or 2.
4. Shake off glitter and tap several times to get off the excess. Let sit until dry... approx 5 minutes. Then you should be able to brush off the extra sprinkles of glitter without smearing your "apples"!
5. Add the tree trunk and branches using the Premium Craft Glue! Your Apple tree looks good enough to eat! :)

We went in to Fredericton to go out for supper with Justin's Nephew and his girlfriend, and his other nephew.

My Mother in Law kept the 2 middle boys so that was great! We just took the 2 oldest and the baby. We went to Jungle Jims for supper... YUMMY!!!

Right around 10:00 as we were about to pay and head down to the waterfront for the fireworks, the skies opened up and it started to pour rain! SO disappointing!!! Too late to go to the movies too... So we were homeword bound. Oh well... maybe next year? We had fun regardless!!
I painted their faces with... scrapbooking paint! I used the Red and White from my Scrapbook Sally paints! LOL!!! Wasn't sure if it would wash off ok, but today they are back to normal! WHOOT!!

So, I'll be back with some pages to share... I have a couple... but you'll have to wait! :)

Here's my story!! :)

I was home with the kids after they were in bed... and this unknown # shows up on my phone... Honestly I thought it was my nephew from out West calling to tell DH about his recent engagement, So, I didn't answer. i was waiting for DH to get home so they could talk! And then the call came again... I ignored it. Then the third time, DH was home... i said GET THAT... IT'S FOR YOU!! "Yes she is... just one minute please..." It was for me? Then my mind started going... within 10 seconds I was off the couch and flipping out!! (That's quick for me at this point in pregnancy! LOL!) "You're joking me!!??" I stupidly said. "Yes, this is a joke... we like to call people and get their hopes up and then tell them we're joking!" she said!! ROFL!!!

I am SO honored and amazed to be among such a list of incredible talent!! Special WHOOT to Erika Taylor... my fellow Magistical Memories team member and fellow Canuck!! Congrats!!

The Change

I have turned into an emotional wreck this past week!! Just look at me and i cry... No reason... all is well... just all teary eyed! Dh and I get laughing about it... I'll cry just out of the blue and then get to giggling at the same time! LOL! Gotta love that final stretch of being preggers! :)

That is what inspired this LO... my oldest DS is growing up into SUCH a fine little man... he has changed to much in the last year it just blows me away! He such a big help...so responsible and helpful..... sniff sniff... I'm just so proud of him!!

The Design of this page is taken from the April sketch from Magistical Memories... I turned it onto it's side and it took on a life of it's own! I was also inspired by the work of Karola... this girl is my scrappy idol... every piece she creates is an amazing work of art!!! incredible! I just love her use of liquid pearls!! :)
I used the chipboard corner bare naked as an embellishment over my title... I could use this particular piece a million times and never grow bored of it!! It's one of my favorite Magistical Memories pieces!!

THE CHANGE

The chipboard frame under my photo was just a plain piece of chipboard. I ran it thru my cuttlebug using the distressed lines cartridge. Then I ran some brown ink along it. After mounting my photo on it, I tore it to make a "somewhat" circle... then inked the edges in black to give it a real aged look... LOVE the result with this page!!
