Hard drive malfunction

WARNING! Horrible info to follow...
My external hard drive is out of comission... hopefully temporarily!! However, it holds all of my images... therefor, I am not able to post any of my recent creations... EEEKKK!!!
I am PRAYING that it is fixable... as it holds all of my photo's... I will be HEARTBROKEN if it can not!
So, I will be able to post new creations soon, but the ones that were stored on my hard drive will have to be rephotographed for me to show you!
So, bare with me while I get things back to rights! :)
Thanks a bunch!

Spellbinders Design Team... Year 2!!

I know... the announcement was made almost a week ago! Does it seem like I'm not excited?...
NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am BURSTING with excitement yet again to share that I have been asked to continue on with Spellbinders and be a part of their 2012 design team!! The competition was extremely difficult! With everything taking place over Christmas, everything with Dad's illness PLUS all of the CHA work... It was a real challenge! However, I adored each and every project I submitted! I guess they did too...! :) WHOOT!!
Unfortunately I am not able to share any of my projects for the competition with you. They are being held for possible publication! Exciting!!
I would like however, to share with you a layout that I did for Spellbinders for CHA. This is a page about my 6 yr old Sammy. It's bright! It has no flowers on it! So it's a little different for me, but having 4 boys and only 1 girl, I have to break out of my elegant and romantic mode once in a while to scrap something fun and funky!

Thank God for answered prayer

I want to begin by saying thank you to all of you who have emailed me, commented, or taken the time to touch base and let me know you are thinking of and/or praying for my Dad. In the last post about Dad, things were not looking good. We were told there was nothing that could be done. As you can imagine, it was devastating.
I am THRILLED to share, that diagnosis has changed. Dad has been diagnosed with Limbic Encephalitis caused by an Autoimmune Disease. He was given MANY tests, and we are still waiting for blood work to come back from the Mayo Clinic in Boston. But they have not found any problems anywhere in his body, except for his brain. AMEN to that! They were afraid that it may have been caused by cancer or a tumor somewhere in his body. But it is not... there is absolutely NO reason!! THAT is a huge answer to prayer!!!
So, in Jan they started Dad on a cortisone treatment, which lasted 7 days and made a big difference. This treatment reduced the inflammation in his brain. Then, last week they repeated another set of this same treatment, as well as give him a new one. This one is called IVIG. It is basically filling filling him with antibodies harvested from aprox 20,000 blood donors. They hope with this is that it will help to correct the path of the antibodies attacking his brain. Amazing! When we were told there was nothing they could do...
Dad just finished this treatment and is doing amazing! The doctors have ordered another round of this at the end of Feb. For now he is being transferred to the Rehab unit in the hospital so that they can focus on helping him to remember things. Hopefully after the next set of treatments he will be able to come home...
That's such an amazing thought... we never thought it would happen. God has answered so many prayers regarding Dad... so many little things... I couldn't begin to list them all. I'm just so grateful to serve a God who cares...
Even if things had not turned out as they have... God is still faithful... he has a plan. I'm just so thankful that His plan is to keep Dad around a while longer. I am so blessed...
Thank you for your prayers... keep them coming!!
xoxo

There are 20 new folders, each with 2 designs, and they come in 2 sizes, 5 x 7” and 4 ¼ x 5 ½” for all your paper crafting needs!

Watch this introductory video!

See how to use the new Spellbinders M-Bossabilities in this video!

For my first project, I created an altered trinket box. The box itself is a plain wooden box easily found at any craft store. It was very simple to create this… here’s what I did.
Paint the box with a generous coat of crackle paint. Feel free to paint inside and the bottom if desired. I left the center of the top unpainted, as it will be covered by paper. While it dries, continue on with the next steps.

Trim a patterned paper just slightly smaller than the size of the box top. Sand edges of paper. Set aside.
Using E8-013 Classic Decorative Inserts Five and E8-003 Classic Triple Scallop Edge, create a 12” long strip. Tape the 2 die templates together, then tape to the strip of paper using a low tack tape. Cut and emboss using Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Machine. Remove die templates and reposition to finish cutting the 12” strip. I like to overlap the last portion of the cut design with the die templates to ensure everything remains in the proper position.
Repeat, so you have 2 12” strips to work with.
Create a decorative strip by adhering the edges of the strips just cut under the edges of a strip of striped pattern paper. Ink all edges if desired before adhering.
Adhere patterned paper to box top. Adhere decorative strip using Scor Pal’s Scor Tape for a strong hold. Trim ends once they have met the bottom of the box lid. Sand for smoothness.
Next, add a black flourish from Want2Scrap. Ends will be longer than the box, so just continue to wrap them around the box.

Now we get into some die cutting fun!!

Using cream colored cardstock, cut out S4-353 Labels Twenty Four die template #4 (with #1 being the smallest). No need to emboss, as we are now going to set this piece in our ES-001 Simplicity M-Bossabilities folder using side B. Emboss using the A-Base Plate and the raspberry D-Adaptor Plate, with the M-Bossabilities folder in between. Once embossed, lightly run a light colored ink across the embossed image. This helps to give a faux-letterpress look very easy! Set aside.
Using green paper, cut circle using S4-114 Standard Circles LG #5 (#1 is the smallest). Emboss using the same technique discussed above… using plates A and D with the M-Bossabilities folder between. Sand lightly, then ink. Add circle of black Nestabling from Want2Scrap. Set aside.
Next, I chose a different paper to add a bit if a delicate touch. Donna Salazar’s Antiquities linefrom GCD Studios worked perfectly! Place plain dress form from S5-068 Decorative Dress Forms over journaling block containing the floral pattern on the bottom left. Use low tack tape to hold in place. Trim with scissors. Cut and emboss. Lightly outline the form using black ink from Clear Snap. Add 3 pearls from Want 2 Scrap. I chose baby bling… in LeCreme. To finish off the dress form, I tied the waist with a small piece of green tulle.

Now we get to put it all together!!
Using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares, adhere the die cut pieces to the center of the decorated trinket box. Labels Twenty Four on the bottom, circle next, with the dress form on top.
To finish off, add a thin strip of stripped pattern around the perimeter of the box. I inked the edges first, and adhered it using Scor Tape.

Now you are finished!!

I just have to share this with you... it's so darn exciting for me!! :)

I had 2 of my projects that I created for Spellbinders used in Spellbinders advertisements! Both are on the back cover! How cool is that?? Totally cool I think! :)

Scrapbooks Etc Winter 2012

First up is a Layout that I created before CHA-S. It can be found on the back cover of Scrapbooks Etc winter edition! This is the project... more info on it can be found in the Spellbinders Gallery here.

Snow Angel

Card Maker Jan 2012

Then there is a card/envelope set that I created found on the back of Card Maker Magazine! Unfortunately there was a boboo at the office, so my name is not on it, but that of Judy Hayes. But if you go to the Spellbinders gallery you will find it there with my name! :)

Tiny Blessings

So if you happen upon one of those magazines this month, be sure to take a peek at the back cover and say, Hey!! I know her! :)

Update

Hello All!
I'm sorry it's been so long since I've updated. Life has thrown me a bit of a curve ball. It's really thrown me off in every aspect of my life.
Dec 21st I received the dreadful news that my Dad is terminally ill and is not expected to make it more than 6 months to a year.
Crash... my world just fell down around me...
I don't know what to say... i don't know what to feel... I don't know what to do.
So I'm just taking one day at a time... and doing what I have to do. I'm ok... it's just really hard on me. I'm leaning on my Savior for strength, and the prayers that I know are being prayed are holding me up and helping me to deal with each day.

I've been doing lots of creating... and have lots to share... I'm just not able to take the time to do that yet... so much yet to do!
So... bare with me! I hope to be a better blogger this year, and inspire you lots. I guess my "New Start with a New Year" hasn't really started for me yet... hopefully it's coming soon.
So, until then...

Spellbinders Round One! Done!

Yeah!!! I made it thru the First Round of the Spellbinders Design Team contest!!! I think it is MORE stressful the second time around! LOL!!! I actually went to town Christmas shopping the day of the announcement... Know what I did? I took my laptop with me so I could be checking!! I had to keep going to the Subway parking lot to check the Spellbinders blog! ROFL! Yep, a little obsessed you could say! :) I SURE was happy to see my name there! :) My hubby thought I was nuts!! :) I guess he's right... ;)
Thank you to EVERYONE who has already commented or touched base to congratulate! It is SUCH an amazing company to design for! I feel so honored to have been on the 2011 team! I would love to have the opportunity to continue on!!! A HUGE congrats to the others on the list!! I am SO excited for you!!!!
That being said, did you SEE the list? There is some AMAZING talent on there!! 11 out of 12 present team members reapplied... they are only taking 12 for the 2012 team!!! There is not guarantee that we will make it back on! We have to compete just as hard as everyone else!! I have until Jan 4th to create something that will blow them away! I have to say... my First round project is one of my very best projects that I've EVER created!!!!! I can't show you yet... but it is pretty nice, if I do say so myself! LOL!
I can however, show you a different project! :) And it's not Christmassy! :)
I created this project for Summer CHA using some gorgeous die templates! I had fun with the lacing and adding some corrugated cardboard for a photo mat! The title is done in Donna's Letters onto corrugated cardboard as well! how fun is that!? For details on what products are used, please see my Spellbinders gallery.

TIP: See that spiral blossom? The entire die template has the scallops. What I did, was fold them in to create the center of the flower, and only allow the outside scallops to be seen! It creates a different look than what we usually see with this die template! How fun!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you are enjoying your holiday prep!! Time is running out! LOL!

Until next time... Happy Scrapping!

Trimmin' The Tree with Spellbinders!

Yesterday Hubby went with our boys and got our Christmas tree! YAY! Yep, we get a real one and I LOVE it that way! I would have loved to go all together but I had to take Jaz to a concert for school... so it was the perfect way to get both things done in one day! :) We'll get it up this week sometime... not my favorite job in the world but I sure do enjoy it when it's finished!

So today I have a sweet and simple tree ornament to share with you! I literally made it in 5 minutes!! I was cleaning up some scraps from a previous project and it just fell together! LOVE when that happens! It was one of those afternoons that I really didn't have time to create... but how can you NOT have 5 minutes!?!?
This project was created using some of my favorite Spellbinders Die Templates!
S5-029 Nested Lacey Pennants
S5-028 Nested Pennants
S5-041 Floral Doily Motifs
It also uses Want2Scrap's Nestabling to match the Pennant die!!

(Ribbon is Not yellow... my camera went wonky on me here... didn't notice it so bad until I published this pose! Eek! LOL!)
I actually began this project by tying the lace into a bow. Then It all came to me in a rush! :) I grabbed a pre made flower (First time in AGES! I always make my own with the fab Spellbinders die's!!), ran the Bo Bunny paper thru my Grand Calibur once to cut ALL the pieces... then one more time to emboss them all! Then I glued them all together! a little ink, a little bling and a little ribbon and I was FINISHED! How quick is THAT?!?!Hope I've given you the push to run to your scrap stash and spend JUST 5 MINUTES creating something fabulous! It'll make your day... I know it did mine! :)
Until Next time...
Happy Scrapping!

Frame

This is a cheap wooden frame that I purchased from Michaels for $1.50. Yes, for real!! I stained it using Cosmic Shimmers shimmer spray in BRONZE BLUSH. I applied it with a cloth and rubbed it in good. it gave it a beautiful stain!
Next, I covered the front in patterned paper and cut out the center using a craft knife. Sand and ink edges.
I used several Spellbinders die templates on this frame. The fun part about this is that you can create ANY themed frame! Think baby, Family, party, girl, boy, Mom, Dad... the possibilities are endless! There are so many die templates available thru Spellbinders that you are sure to find what you are looking for!
For me, I wanted to create a country charm look... which I achieved with the addition of the gingham print and the lace. This beautiful photo is of my sister and her hubby...
So if you have a special photo that you would like to give as a gift, try altering a frame for it! You'd be amazed by the personal touch it adds!

Have you remembered that Spellbinders is having a design team call? The deadline is Dec 9th for the first round!! Yep, my project is submitted! :)

In the Christmas spirit!

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!"
WOHOO! First snow day of the year... school is canceled and the kids are home! It's just beginning to snow... but it sure does put me in the Christmas spirit! I am determined to start early this year so that it's not such a rush! I absolutely love the season, but get frustrated by all I put into it to make it so much less enjoyable. So this year I'm cutting back... cutting back on the shopping (we need more stuff like we need a hole in the head! ;) ), cutting back on my expectations of myself to make everything perfect. This year I want to enjoy MORE time... more time with my family, more time in peace and quiet, more time thanking God for sending His Son to this world... for me. More time just taking it all in. More time thinking about how we can be a blessing to others... not just all about us. That is what I am praying for this holiday season.I pray that you will find balance this season as well. Take time for the things that are important... and enjoy EVERY minute!! :)
While I'm here, I would like to share a few Christmas projects that I've been creating. I've been doing lots of creating... Spellbinders new Winter CHA prototypes are rolling in and I'm knee deep in creating... and LOVING every minute of it!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS Gift Set
This first set is a card/gift tin that I created. My Mom is doing a table at a craft sale and asked me to contribute some goodies! So Of course I'm happy to do so! This is one of my favorite things that I've been doing for the Holidays... cards and tins. The tins hold a gift card. So many people love to give a gift card but don't like how impersonal they feel. So give it a personal touch, with a handmade set!
This set was created using Spellbinders LF-132 Grand Rectangles, S4-114 Standard Circles LG, and S5-057 Holly Motifs and S5-056 Holly Accents. This gorgeous paper is My Minds Eye Holly Jolly collection... which I ADORE! This card was SO easy to make... I created the gift tin in the same way so that made it even simpler! The stamp is by Just Right stampers... ADORE that doily stamp!!
The second gift set that I created is also a very simple one.
Reindeer Gift Set
This set uses Bo Bunny paper, and makes full use of the festive scenes! The die cutting is less obvious in the photo's on this set. I used the Spellbinders LF-132 Grand Rectangles again... they help to give a little bit of definition to the papers rather than just having them cut flat. Which of course adds to the beauty of them! Top them off with a bow and the beautiful charms that Bo Bunny has to match their papers! I added a touch of stickles to make the snow look real and this card is finished! SO simple!
The gift tin is even simpler! No time at all and this set was complete!! Paper, glitter ribbon and a charm!
One more little project to share today... a gift box! I LOVE the gift boxes that Spellbinders released a the last CHA! This box was created using the LF 010 Square Bracket Edge Box.

Golden Gift Box
Here's how I created this one...
1. Using a small amount of tape, adhere box bottom die template (LF 010 Square Bracket Edge Box) to cream cardstock.
2. Take cream cardstock and stamp Just Right Stampers doily stamp in several positions using Watermark Ink (Clear Snap). Sprinkle with embossing powder. (Cosmic Shimmers bronze blush) Heat with heating gun. Next, cover entire area with gold ink. Using a cloth, wipe cardstock to remove ink from embossed images. This creates a resist! Then tape die template(box cover) to cardstock. Cut and emboss with piece from step 1. Assemble box pieces.
3. Cut/emboss S5-067 Anemone Flower Topper onto gold paper (Anna Griffin), excluding the flower center and the largest flower. Adhere together and curl petals. Adhere to box top.
4. Create rose using S5-050 Rose Creations and cream cardstock. I used the smaller sized die templates, curling them towards the center. The larger layers were curled outwards. I believe I used 2 layers of each size (I did not use the largest templates, as I wanted a smaller sized flower)
Adhere to center of Anemone flower topper! And you are done! Glitter, stickles, anything else can be added!!

I am working on a video of this to share with you! Hoping to have it completed soon! :)

These are SO simple and there are SOOO many uses for them, and ways to make them your own! The possibilities are endless! Think truffles, candy, jewelry... see what I mean? Never ending possibilities!
Well, I will leave you with that today! I hope that I have put you in the Christmas spirit, just a little bit! I know my American friends are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving... so I'm a bit ahead of the game for you! LOL! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and are able to spend it with your loved ones!
Stop in again soon and view the video I am creating for this adorable box!! :)

Until Next time...
Happy Scrapping!!

My Sister My Friend
For my project today, I created a simple card for you. I have created several other projects already using these die templates. I just love using them! They are so elegant and full of possibilities! For this card I used the plain dress form. I just loved adding all the bling from Want2Scrap. I also was careful with the placement of the template on my patterned paper. This made it so that the design on the top of the form looks like it's part of the design! Love that!!

Besides the Dress Forms, I also used the following Spellbinders Die Templates:

LF-110 Grand Ovals
S4-314 Lacey Ovals
S4-110 Classic Ovals Lg
S4-310 Labels Eighteen

I added a border along the bottom of the card by using the following Edgabilities templates as well.
E8-003 Classic Triple Scallop (Edger)
E8-002 Classic Bracket (Decorative Insert)
E8-006 Classic Petal (Decorative Insert)
Supplies:
Spellbinders Die Templates (as listed above)
