Spellbinders Round One! Done!

Yeah!!! I made it thru the First Round of the Spellbinders Design Team contest!!! I think it is MORE stressful the second time around! LOL!!! I actually went to town Christmas shopping the day of the announcement... Know what I did? I took my laptop with me so I could be checking!! I had to keep going to the Subway parking lot to check the Spellbinders blog! ROFL! Yep, a little obsessed you could say! :) I SURE was happy to see my name there! :) My hubby thought I was nuts!! :) I guess he's right... ;)
Thank you to EVERYONE who has already commented or touched base to congratulate! It is SUCH an amazing company to design for! I feel so honored to have been on the 2011 team! I would love to have the opportunity to continue on!!! A HUGE congrats to the others on the list!! I am SO excited for you!!!!
That being said, did you SEE the list? There is some AMAZING talent on there!! 11 out of 12 present team members reapplied... they are only taking 12 for the 2012 team!!! There is not guarantee that we will make it back on! We have to compete just as hard as everyone else!! I have until Jan 4th to create something that will blow them away! I have to say... my First round project is one of my very best projects that I've EVER created!!!!! I can't show you yet... but it is pretty nice, if I do say so myself! LOL!
I can however, show you a different project! :) And it's not Christmassy! :)
I created this project for Summer CHA using some gorgeous die templates! I had fun with the lacing and adding some corrugated cardboard for a photo mat! The title is done in Donna's Letters onto corrugated cardboard as well! how fun is that!? For details on what products are used, please see my Spellbinders gallery.

TIP: See that spiral blossom? The entire die template has the scallops. What I did, was fold them in to create the center of the flower, and only allow the outside scallops to be seen! It creates a different look than what we usually see with this die template! How fun!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you are enjoying your holiday prep!! Time is running out! LOL!

Until next time... Happy Scrapping!

In The Christmas Spirit

Hello all!! Busy around here as always! But I did want to stop by and share with you a few projects that I did for Spellbinders! These 3 projects are all on the Spellbinders website in my gallery,(found here) so I'm going to let you visit there to find the products used and what die templates I designed these with!

First up is a layout I created about my baby's first Christmas! I just ADORE this photo of Jesse!!
BABY's FIRST NOEL

Then I created a Christmas card using the same papers and some of the same die templates!

GLORY TO GOD

Then finally, I created a Christmas planner! Simple and yet such a big help in getting and staying organized!

Trimmin' The Tree with Spellbinders!

Yesterday Hubby went with our boys and got our Christmas tree! YAY! Yep, we get a real one and I LOVE it that way! I would have loved to go all together but I had to take Jaz to a concert for school... so it was the perfect way to get both things done in one day! :) We'll get it up this week sometime... not my favorite job in the world but I sure do enjoy it when it's finished!

So today I have a sweet and simple tree ornament to share with you! I literally made it in 5 minutes!! I was cleaning up some scraps from a previous project and it just fell together! LOVE when that happens! It was one of those afternoons that I really didn't have time to create... but how can you NOT have 5 minutes!?!?
This project was created using some of my favorite Spellbinders Die Templates!
S5-029 Nested Lacey Pennants
S5-028 Nested Pennants
S5-041 Floral Doily Motifs
It also uses Want2Scrap's Nestabling to match the Pennant die!!

(Ribbon is Not yellow... my camera went wonky on me here... didn't notice it so bad until I published this pose! Eek! LOL!)
I actually began this project by tying the lace into a bow. Then It all came to me in a rush! :) I grabbed a pre made flower (First time in AGES! I always make my own with the fab Spellbinders die's!!), ran the Bo Bunny paper thru my Grand Calibur once to cut ALL the pieces... then one more time to emboss them all! Then I glued them all together! a little ink, a little bling and a little ribbon and I was FINISHED! How quick is THAT?!?!Hope I've given you the push to run to your scrap stash and spend JUST 5 MINUTES creating something fabulous! It'll make your day... I know it did mine! :)
Until Next time...
Happy Scrapping!

S5-061 Daisy Flower Topper
Spellbinders™ Grand Calibur™ Die Cutting Machine

Buttons Galore And More, Cream Buttons
Jillibean Soup, Brown Twine
Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape
Ranger Distress ink (Frayed Burlap
Pink Paislee Brown Letter Stickers
Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots, Premium Craft Glue
Frame

This is a cheap wooden frame that I purchased from Michaels for $1.50. Yes, for real!! I stained it using Cosmic Shimmers shimmer spray in BRONZE BLUSH. I applied it with a cloth and rubbed it in good. it gave it a beautiful stain!
Next, I covered the front in patterned paper and cut out the center using a craft knife. Sand and ink edges.
I used several Spellbinders die templates on this frame. The fun part about this is that you can create ANY themed frame! Think baby, Family, party, girl, boy, Mom, Dad... the possibilities are endless! There are so many die templates available thru Spellbinders that you are sure to find what you are looking for!
For me, I wanted to create a country charm look... which I achieved with the addition of the gingham print and the lace. This beautiful photo is of my sister and her hubby...
So if you have a special photo that you would like to give as a gift, try altering a frame for it! You'd be amazed by the personal touch it adds!

Have you remembered that Spellbinders is having a design team call? The deadline is Dec 9th for the first round!! Yep, my project is submitted! :)

Until Next Time...

In the Christmas spirit!

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!"
WOHOO! First snow day of the year... school is canceled and the kids are home! It's just beginning to snow... but it sure does put me in the Christmas spirit! I am determined to start early this year so that it's not such a rush! I absolutely love the season, but get frustrated by all I put into it to make it so much less enjoyable. So this year I'm cutting back... cutting back on the shopping (we need more stuff like we need a hole in the head! ;) ), cutting back on my expectations of myself to make everything perfect. This year I want to enjoy MORE time... more time with my family, more time in peace and quiet, more time thanking God for sending His Son to this world... for me. More time just taking it all in. More time thinking about how we can be a blessing to others... not just all about us. That is what I am praying for this holiday season.I pray that you will find balance this season as well. Take time for the things that are important... and enjoy EVERY minute!! :)
While I'm here, I would like to share a few Christmas projects that I've been creating. I've been doing lots of creating... Spellbinders new Winter CHA prototypes are rolling in and I'm knee deep in creating... and LOVING every minute of it!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS Gift Set
This first set is a card/gift tin that I created. My Mom is doing a table at a craft sale and asked me to contribute some goodies! So Of course I'm happy to do so! This is one of my favorite things that I've been doing for the Holidays... cards and tins. The tins hold a gift card. So many people love to give a gift card but don't like how impersonal they feel. So give it a personal touch, with a handmade set!
This set was created using Spellbinders LF-132 Grand Rectangles, S4-114 Standard Circles LG, and S5-057 Holly Motifs and S5-056 Holly Accents. This gorgeous paper is My Minds Eye Holly Jolly collection... which I ADORE! This card was SO easy to make... I created the gift tin in the same way so that made it even simpler! The stamp is by Just Right stampers... ADORE that doily stamp!!
The second gift set that I created is also a very simple one.
Reindeer Gift Set
This set uses Bo Bunny paper, and makes full use of the festive scenes! The die cutting is less obvious in the photo's on this set. I used the Spellbinders LF-132 Grand Rectangles again... they help to give a little bit of definition to the papers rather than just having them cut flat. Which of course adds to the beauty of them! Top them off with a bow and the beautiful charms that Bo Bunny has to match their papers! I added a touch of stickles to make the snow look real and this card is finished! SO simple!
The gift tin is even simpler! No time at all and this set was complete!! Paper, glitter ribbon and a charm!
One more little project to share today... a gift box! I LOVE the gift boxes that Spellbinders released a the last CHA! This box was created using the LF 010 Square Bracket Edge Box.

Golden Gift Box
Here's how I created this one...
1. Using a small amount of tape, adhere box bottom die template (LF 010 Square Bracket Edge Box) to cream cardstock.
2. Take cream cardstock and stamp Just Right Stampers doily stamp in several positions using Watermark Ink (Clear Snap). Sprinkle with embossing powder. (Cosmic Shimmers bronze blush) Heat with heating gun. Next, cover entire area with gold ink. Using a cloth, wipe cardstock to remove ink from embossed images. This creates a resist! Then tape die template(box cover) to cardstock. Cut and emboss with piece from step 1. Assemble box pieces.
3. Cut/emboss S5-067 Anemone Flower Topper onto gold paper (Anna Griffin), excluding the flower center and the largest flower. Adhere together and curl petals. Adhere to box top.
4. Create rose using S5-050 Rose Creations and cream cardstock. I used the smaller sized die templates, curling them towards the center. The larger layers were curled outwards. I believe I used 2 layers of each size (I did not use the largest templates, as I wanted a smaller sized flower)
Adhere to center of Anemone flower topper! And you are done! Glitter, stickles, anything else can be added!!

I am working on a video of this to share with you! Hoping to have it completed soon! :)

These are SO simple and there are SOOO many uses for them, and ways to make them your own! The possibilities are endless! Think truffles, candy, jewelry... see what I mean? Never ending possibilities!
Well, I will leave you with that today! I hope that I have put you in the Christmas spirit, just a little bit! I know my American friends are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving... so I'm a bit ahead of the game for you! LOL! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and are able to spend it with your loved ones!
Stop in again soon and view the video I am creating for this adorable box!! :)

Until Next time...
Happy Scrapping!!

My Sister My Friend
For my project today, I created a simple card for you. I have created several other projects already using these die templates. I just love using them! They are so elegant and full of possibilities! For this card I used the plain dress form. I just loved adding all the bling from Want2Scrap. I also was careful with the placement of the template on my patterned paper. This made it so that the design on the top of the form looks like it's part of the design! Love that!!

Besides the Dress Forms, I also used the following Spellbinders Die Templates:

LF-110 Grand Ovals
S4-314 Lacey Ovals
S4-110 Classic Ovals Lg
S4-310 Labels Eighteen

I added a border along the bottom of the card by using the following Edgabilities templates as well.
E8-003 Classic Triple Scallop (Edger)
E8-002 Classic Bracket (Decorative Insert)
E8-006 Classic Petal (Decorative Insert)

Spellbinders Die Templates (as listed above)

Spellbinders Design Team Call

Hey!!!! It's cold... I have lots to do today, and yet here I sit! :) I think it's a good start to my day! LOL! Still waiting for my coffee to kick in too! (Well, I was... but now it's after lunch before I actually am publishing this.. so don't think I just got up! LOL!)

Have you heard that Spellbinders has announced their design team call? If not, check it out here. I have to tell you that this is the most amazing company to work with! The product is second to NONE! They are cutting edge (no pun intended! LOL!), top quality, easy to use, and addictive I must say! :)
The people behind the business are amazing! They treat you like a person, not a number or an email address! Having the opportunity to travel to Arizona and meet them face to face makes it such a personal experience. You get to know the people, the business and the team.
Before trying out for the team, to be honest, I had never had the opportunity to own even one set of Spellbinders die templates! I received my first set once I made the finals! I knew I would love them... had been loving them from a distance! But once I used them it was love at first cut! Now there is no going back! I can't even imagine creating something without using my die templates!! The tough part is deciding which ones to use!! I now have SO MANY! What a wonderful problem to have!! :)
I still have 5 months left as a part of the 2011 team. I can't believe how fast the time has gone!! Yes, I plan to reapply! I have loved everythng about this! The competition is FEIRCE but I plan to do my best to make it again! Spellbinders ROCKS!! :)
So, that being said, I'll share a couple of projects that I created for them! :)
Happy Fall Y'all!
In creating this card, I used the Grand Labels Twenty Three to create my card base, Then I cut a frame using Grand Recrangles and adhered it over a rectangle of Best Creation Glitter cardstock!. After cutting some circle rings using both LG and SM Standard Circles, I heat embossed some leaves and added a bit of mica powder! A ribbon banner, stamped sentiment and button tied with twine finished this card off! It's different, and I like that! So Happy Fall Y'all!! :)

Spellbinders Meets Unity Stamp Company Blog Hop!!

Welcome to our TWO-day event!

Spellbinders and Unity logo

You should be joining me from Karen Maldonado ’s blog, if not then head to the beginning on the Unity Stamp Co. Blog.

With all the blog-swaps that are happening out there lately, I can't think of one more exciting than when the amazing women of SPELLBINDERS™ get together with the rock stars of UNITY STAMP COMPANY!

We can't wait to show you a special line of coordinating products featuring SPELLBINDERS dies and SAMANTHA WALKER for Unity Stamp Co. rubber stamps!
Not only are we thrilled to be collaborating on such a special 2-day event, but ONE of you will win ALL of the coordinating stamps and dies from the Samantha Walker collection! We will also have 1 winner each day from the comments that will receive 1 Samantha Walker stamp set and coordinating dies.
So be sure to enjoy our hop both days, leave comments on all of the blogs each day and check back to see if you won!

(winners will be posted on Wednesday, October 19th on the Unity Blog and Spellbinders Blog)

For my project today I used the Spellbinders S5-070 Ornate Artisan Tags and Accents and the Samantha Walker for Unity Ornate Artisan Stackers.

I absolutely love how well they fit together! They really are easy as pie to stamp and then cut the image you want! They fit perfectly! no trying to make it fit... they just do! And the possibilities are endless as to how you can mix and match them! They all fit together and give you an endless supply of designs to work with! Not to mention the fabulous sentiments that come with this set!

I just love the stenciling ability that you get with the Spellbinders die templates! See the shading that is on these cream colored pieces? That is all done while the die is still in the template! It gives such a beautiful look! This is one thing that makes Spellbinders templates so amazing!

In creating this card, I filled in some of the stamped images with Cosmic Shimmers Drawing paint! This stuff is SO much fun to use on stamped images!! It gives a nice shimmer which just adds to the look of the design!

Creating this card has me wanting one thing... ALL of the Samantha Walker stamps to match my Spellbinders Die Templates! I'm sure you will agree by the end of these 2 days of amazing inspiration! So, time to move on to the next blog!!

Please head over to Natalie Dever's blog…

Thanks for stopping by!

Until Next Time...

Win with Spellbinders & Core'dinations Blog Swap Day 3

Welcome to the Spellbinders and Core’dinations Blog Swap!

This week Spellbinders™ has teamed up with Core’dinations Color Core Cardstock® to showcase the wonderful ways our products work together!

Today I have 2 simple coordinating projects to share with you! Thanksgiving is right around the corner for us Canadians, so I could not resist creating Thankful themed projects for this occasion!

I used 2 Core'dinations Color Core Cardstock packs for these projects...
My Minds Eye Lost and Found Collection
Jenni Bowlin Everyday Collection

In creating my card, I began with Spellbinders LF-161 Grand Labels One. I cut the card base from this and folded it in half. From there, I used the following die templates...
S5-073 Orchard Harvest Tags and Accents
S4-348 Postage Stamps
S5-028 Nested Pennants
S4-328 FoliageLink

In creating the gift box, (which I see Christine Emberson and I both were thinking alike...) I used the following Spellbinders die templates:
LF-010 Square Bracket Edge Box
S5-073 Orchard Harvest Tags and Accents
S4-348 Postage Stamps
S5-028 Nested Pennants
S4-328 Foliage

In working with Core'dinations cardstock, there are so many options!! I love the sanded look, as seen on the cream or brown colored papers. While on the red and gold I used ink to bring out the embossing! SO many options!!
I also loved the Core'dinations Dust Buddy for this project! This piece of cloth that cleans up the dust from your sanding! It is the first time I used it, but it will NOT be the last! It cleaned up every drop of dust without effort! You have to give it a try if you like sanding your papers!!
Bringing these two companies together, one can't help but create something beautiful... Try it and you'll see what all the fuss is about! :)

Core’dinations ColorCore Cardstock is the only sandable cardstock with a color core. Sand it, tear it, emboss it and so much more! The Core Essentials line comes in over 160 colors with matching color families. Or maybe you are looking for something a bit more contrasting like the Black Magic or Chocolate Box collections. The sandable core will shine through the unique black and brown colors once it is sanded. Core’dinations has also teamed up with industry leading companies such as Pink Paislee, BasicGrey, Graphic 45 and more to create new and unique pre-embossed cardstock that perfectly accents their patterned papers.

But there is more! Check out Core’dinations website for the new Cardmaker Series, Kraft-Core and various other wonderful cardstock lines.
